Can I return to my birthplace (UK) and claim a pension?

I am a British citizen, born in the UK, but living in South Africa since 1960. I came here with my parents and eventually married a South African. Neither of us can get a government pension because we own our home. Can I return to the UK with my husband and draw a pension or get aid of some sort?
